Hammer Pedro Obiang scored his first international goal for Equatorial Guinea as the midfielder helped his side to an easy 4-1 win over Sudan. The Hammers midfielder broke his International duck and fired home in the 85th minute in his nation’s side win, capping a strong performance away from home in Friday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Obiang started the fixture, earning his second cap for Equatorial Guinea since declaring for the country last year, and helped the team to take a 2-1 lead at half-time. Sudan took the lead through Mohamed Mukkhtar but two penalties, tucked away by captain Emilio Nsue, gave the away side the advantage.
Pablo Ganet added a third for Equatorial Guinea four minutes after the restart, before Obiang struck to secure an emphatic win.
Despite the victory, Equatorial Guinea did not qualify for the 2019 AFCON Finals in Egypt after finishing third in Group A with six points from six matches.
