Ogbonna impressed with young stars

|

Angelo Ogbonna has hailed the character and personalities of the Hammers youngsters and is obviously deeply impressed with their attitude.

Despite both Declan and Issa perhaps not showing their best form at the weekend there is little doubt that both are future major stars of club and country.

Apart from performing with distinction this season, their attitudes in interviews and off pitch activities is absolutely spot on.

Declan of course has taken most of the plaudits by and large but the arrival of such as Grady Diangana has demonstrated the work that goes on at academy level to produce youngsters who are dedicated and committed to West Ham United.

Defender Ben Johnson is another  who showed great potential when appearing against Manchester City and  demonsytayed terrrific composure in his post match interviews.

And it’s good that an experienced professional of Ogbonna’s standing should make sure that such qualities are recognised and that will undoubtedly act as a great encouragement to the youngsters.

Talking to www.whufc.com he said: “He added: “When I talk about Dec I want to talk about the other young players too. Grady has played well with a lot of pressure, Diop has been fantastic and they are still so humble all the time. It’s very good for the club.

“For me, they all make it easy [for themselves] because they understand and listen.”

Of Saturday’s game he added: “I don’t know why it took so long for us to get going. We have to stop those kind of starts, but at the end we won and we got three points.

“We have got a very good squad and a very international squad and I think it is realistic [to aim for seventh]. That was our target since the beginning of the season, so we are still looking for that spot.”
