Angelo Ogbonna is 99 per cent certain to be available for the Sheffield United game after sustaining a “very minor injury” in the win over Fulham.
The central defender threw a real strop as he was forced to leave the action knowing that was the end of his international dream this time around.
He had received his first call-up in two years but decided to stay at home instead of travelling for internationals against Poland on Sunday and Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday.
Whilst it was a bitter blow for the 32 year old it’s to his enormous credit that although the injury was very slight he wasn’t prepared to take any chances on this Hammers involvement and decided to stay in London.
We understand that he is in no pain at all and that the suspected groin problem is now no issue at all.
We have learned that he is now 99 per cent certain to be involved at Bramall Lane net weekend.
Good to know it wasn’t anything serious. But… Since seeing is believing, I’d rather patiently wait until I see him jogging onto the pitch just before the kick – off.
