On-fire King’s two goal come and get me Irons nudge

|

Josh King could hardly have given West Ham a more perfectly timed “come and get me ” nudge than he managed this afternoon,

The long time linked Irons striker target has been almost invisible this season but today showed himself off in a big, big way in the FA Cup clash against Oldham Athletic. Bournemouth cruised to a 4-1 win with on fire King scoring twice and insisting one of the others.

With Seb Haller gone, King remains a target for the Hammers who, with a bit of cash in the bank, may now be able to make a move for him

One thing is for sure, David Moyes is making a frontman his number one PLUS priority and is reported to be a fan of the Norwegian international.

With there being interest from elsewhere, it may not be a straightforward job getting him into the club but it hardly seems a coincidence that he has reserved such a display of form during the winter window.

Dont get him…..It was against Oldham….

If I’m not mistaken you’re insinuating king is only putting an effort in because we’re in the transfer window and I don’t want a character like that at my club thank you very much.

Tough one. It is the price he will ask that makes me nervous. How many years has he left? I guess if a productivity clause is written into his contract it could work.

Frank and niel say it all the guys well overated and unless his a free in summer then forget wasting money on him. He only plays in BOURNEMOUTH fa cup side so not that needed there and can be got free in summer window also too old for paying out stupid waste of money already lost enough of that with haller and others

I think that we would have needed to be watching King this season to be able to say that he hadn’t been trying and now suddenly he is trying because of the transfer window – knowing Moyes, if he is really interested in King then he would have been watching him – not only yesterday- and he will not only be looking at goals

I think that with the new “no leaks” approach we will just have to wait and see what happens in the window

King has not been playing much this season, as everyone mentions. No one, however, seems willing to examine why King has not been playing. As a Norwegian myself I’ve paid a bit attention:
1: start of season he did not play as Bournemouth wad expecting to sell (but set price too high).
2: mid november King got Covid and was out with the virus for several weeks.
3: returning to training, Bournemouth manager Tindall admits he was pushed too hard and got some minor back injuries.

King has been back and working hard in training for the last couple weeks. He is a mobile striker who will work hard and has good physique.

At 28 he should have a couple good years left. Best positioned as a striker, can play lone striker or striker pair. Can also play left wing but not as comfortable there.

King won’t be a 20 goals a season striker. But somewhere between 8-13 goals a season is not an unrealistic expectation and in honesty that is a decent return from a West Ham striker point of view.

Not saying we should sign him, that’s for Moyes to decide but wanted to provide some context as to why he has not played and what we can expect if we sign King.
