West Ham are one of only three Premier League clubs not to have been awarded a penalty this season.
Leicester City top the table with ten penalties awarded followed by Manchester United and Brighton who have been awarded six each.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Fulham have received five penalties each from match officials.
Villa and Newcastle have been awarded four whilst Sheffield United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs have been given three each this term.
Palace, Everton, Leeds, Wolves and Southampton have two leaving the Hammers West Brom and Burnley empty handed of spot kicks
The Hammers have had four penalties awarded against them so far.
Last season West Ham were awarded four penalties with six against them.
With Mark Noble on the bench, Seb Haller gone and Michail Antonio recovering from injury it begs the question who is the Hammers priority penalty taker if we did ever get awarded one this season.
Soucek’s record is alright, 10 scored, 3 missed.
No competent “divers” in our team. Perhaps that should be added to the list in our search for another striker. Leicester top- Vardy great goal scorer but also a pretty good diver and play actor at times
I thought that Villa would have topped that list with that award-winning diver Grealish falling over so frequently.
Agreed that we haven’t got any of those divers at our club, but maybe we could hire Tom Daley to coach our strikers on the dark arts of diving!
Leicester are masters at diving. Vardy in particular only has to run in front of a defender then slow up suddenly so the defender clatters into him. Does it all the time and gets rewarded for it with a penalty kick.
We only had one striker and he barely got into the box…
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the 2 other teams alongside us with no penalties are another 2 sides who don’t have a lot of possession. If you have sustained possession in the final third that’s when defenders make mistakes and switch off and lunge in. Unfortunately our style of play doesn’t lend itself to penalties and it would be interesting to know out of our 17 games how many minutes we’ve actually had the ball in the oppositions penalty area. I’m sure there’s a stat for it somewhere.
