West Ham remain keen on Sheffield United’s Sydie Peck, according to Hammers insider ExWHUEmployee.
The all-action midfielder was linked with a move to the London Stadium last month, but speculation has died down over recent weeks.
Following the appointment of recruitment director Nils Koppen, West Ham fans could have been forgiven for thinking that was the end of a target who had been scouted long before the Belgian arrived.
But not so, it seems.
According to Ex, who delivered the update on his West Ham Way Patreon page, the Hammers remain in the hunt for the 21-year-old.
An Old Target Survives The Koppen Reset
Peck performed brilliantly for the Blades last season and is a multifaceted midfielder with good energy, an impressive passing range and the ability to drive forward with the ball.
He also appears to possess a high ceiling, which should suit the West Ham ownership, who are looking to recruit players capable of improving, developing and eventually performing in the Premier League.
It is certainly cheaper to operate that way than to gain promotion and then pay extortionate fees for oven-ready players.

West Ham Need To Replace Fernandes
Koppen’s transfer priority is believed to be replacing Mateus Fernandes, who joined Tottenham Hotspur for £85 million.
Peck is by no means a carbon copy of the Portuguese midfielder, nor is he necessarily a direct replacement.
However, I suspect his energy, attitude and willingness to carry the ball forward would quickly endear him to West Ham supporters.
At 21, he also fits the profile of a player the club could develop during a promotion campaign rather than having to replace again if the Hammers return to the top flight.
