O’Neil can’t wait for Hammers reunion

|

Gary O’Neil admits he is very excited to lead his Bournemouth side into the London Stadium to face West Ham.

O’Neil has been placed in charge of the Cherries following the sacking of Scott Parker and the club are currently 13th in the Premier League table, one place above the Irons.

Of course, the former midfielder spent two years with the Irons between 2011 and 2013.

His spell with the Irons was perhaps best characterised by the serious injury he sustained against Bolton Wanderers, when he broke his ankle and needed surgery to repair the issue.

There were even fears that he may need to retire, but he went on to make a comeback, and eventually moved on to QPR; he later played for Norwich, Bristol City, and Bolton before retiring.

And he is looking forward to a reunion with the claret and blue side on Monday evening.

He told reporters, as per the Bournemouth Echo“I loved it.

“I suffered a bad injury which sort of changed my career for me.

“But I managed to come back from it and still play afterwards, which was a bonus.

“I managed to get back into the Premier League with them with promotion.

“There are some good people there, it’s a great club, I have real fond memories of my time there. Obviously at a different stadium now, but looking forward to going back.”
