OS running track is ripped up

|

RunningtrackThe Olympic Stadium running track is being ripped up to make way for a new running track.

The London 2012 track is being replaced with a brand new blue surface, laid in time for the two world championships taking place at the former Olympic Stadium.

Londoner Olympic hurdler Perri Shakes-Drayton and Paralympic and reigning world champion Richard Whitehead, who won gold over 200m at the Paralympic Games, were invited to remove the final pieces of the Olympic Stadium track including the famous finish line.

The new track will be laid in late spring in time for a range of events this summer including the London Anniversary Games in July. As well as laying a new seven figure state of the art athletics running track work has started to lay a brand new Desso grassmaster grass pitch which is also likely to cost a seven figure sum to install. Both the new pitch and the running track will be funded by Stadium owners E20 Stadium LLP.

How often does a new pitch get laid for football,
Do they use our pitch for the Javalin Discus and Hammer ?

    • Well the current Boleyn pitch was laid in 2002 and they are supposed to be changed every ten years. Ours is past it’s best. The OS had a Desso Grassmaster for the Rugby World cup but that was ripped up after the Motor racing event,

Exactly what i was wondering Bubs , will the pitch stand up to that sort of use ? or maybe they cover it ?

no doubt the media and anti West Ham brigade will be outraged by the expense of all this work being done.

The more pised off they are the better,
Keep them happy with something to think about like if we come out of the European Union
Will we want visas for half the premier league players ?
Will they still have to play for top 50 teams and be regular 1st team choices ?
    Interesting times
At the moment we would need a visa for Payet,Ogbonna and Adrien
