West Ham’s defeat by Sydney FC have been put in awful perspective by fans Down Under who understand the weakness of their A League!
One Hammers fan – writing to ClaretandHugh from Australia – said: “Let’s just be clear on one thing…any EPL side should never lose to an A-League side.
“The A-League plays less than 30 games in a season and finished in April and starts up again in October. Everyone of Sam’s excuses is equally applicable to Sydney FC and Wellington.
“In fact an A-League team turns over between 33%-50% of their team each year. Contract lengths are short 1-2 years and there are no transfer fees unless the player is being poached to go to an overseas club.
“Down here my work colleagues, friends and family cannot believe that an EPL side could possibly lose to an A-League team. “Oh Dear” is all I have heard for the past week.
“Make no mistake these results are an absolute disgrace. Any manager of any professional football team should expect to be sacked. The Australian coach got the sack after losing 6-0 to Brazil and France.”
The person who wrote in is correct I live in Melbourne and we have two A league teams and I just cannot bring myself to go and watch as the standard is so poor losing as we did in the two games was an absolute disgrace Sam has changed nothing still playing the only way he knows hump it forward quick? there was no sign of us trying to play football on the ground and play an attractive passing game if Sam thinks that then he is talking out of his proverbial?
all he cares about is him the two Davids need to wake up and move him on quickly and give someone a chance to change things as sams teams after he leaves have generaly had a bad season and massive rebuilding as he buys old and past it or big target men not ball players. lets take a punt on Jordan Rhodes he is young and knows how to put the ball away.
