Paqueta charge . . . where’s the evidence?

According to our friend Sean Whetstone’s Twitter page, Lucas Paqueta’s FA hearing has been delayed. The reason for the postponement is due to a lack of evidence submitted against him.

This has forced the hearing to be convened in three weeks time rather than today as scheduled. Paqueta has always maintained his innocence, and the charges are believed to involve third parties betting.

Paqueta charge . . . where’s the evidence?

Within the last hour, Sean wrote: The FA has failed to provide any evidence of any wrong doing in advance to Lucas Paqueta and his legal team ahead of a hearing. The hearing which was due to held today has now been delayed for up to three weeks, with Paqueta’s lawyers insisting any evidence must be provided in advance.

The Brazilian produced a remarkable performance against Chelsea at the London Stadium yesterday. Given the pressure he must have been under during the past week, Paqueta’s composure when taking the penalty was impressive.

The lack of evidence is a promising sign for the player, although this saga will continue for a while yet.

What is without doubt, is that Paqueta’s move to Manchester City is unlikely to happen during this transfer window.
