Payet linked with £40m bid from Real Madrid

|

payetReal Madrid have been linked to a possible bid for Dimitri Payet this summer.

French website, Le Sport10 claim “Real Madrid are understood to be readying a bid worth €50m (£40m) & offer Payet €160,000 (£128,000) weekly in wages to persuade him to come.”

Yesterday, Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror said Chelsea scouts have been urging incoming boss Antonio Conte to make a move for Payet.

But he also confirms ClaretandHugh’s weekend story that West Ham’s board are adamant they won’t sell Payet at any cost and refuse to even put a potential valuation on his head that could tempt them to sell.

Over the weekend we spoke to West Ham chairman David Sullivan who told ClaretandHugh “It’s as simple as this – we are not selling him – not at any price. West Ham United is building a team around Dimi Payet – he will not be moving anywhere and that is that.”

Is it just me, or does anyone else hate the word “linked” at this time of year?

£50 million plus Luca Modric would be more like it,
£50 million plus Kroos might just do it
£60 million plus Bale is getting nearer,
£70 million plus Ranaldo ( he is getting old )
Take it or leave it Real

  • MonkeysBellend says:

Yeah, so Payet is going to go to Madrid to warm the bench while Bale has all the fun?
40 million? “Stick it up your Junta”, Real Madrid (to quote the Sun when sponsoring an exorcet in the Falklands War!…Oops showing my age!…Been supporting WHU way longer than that!)

To replace Payet with a like for like player who is younger would cost us more.. he is already getting £125,000 pw & gauranteed to play every game as long as he is fit. At Real he will only play cup games or for last 20 mins or when Bale/kross are injured. £40m to them is nothing.

I would be stunned if Payet is still a West Ham player come the summer. No way can I see us turning down that kind of money and Payet like all world class players will want Champions League football and a chance of winning top trophies.

I hope, really really really hope I am wrong. Just please if he does get sold, let it be to anyone other than poxy Chelsea or Manchester United.

He never wanted anything but to be happy at his club and earn all he can get,
Ne never wanted to leave his last team and am sure the love of our fans will keep him here
Don’t under estimate being happy at a club he has Max 5 years at the top and why not spend it in London happy being a Legend,

  • HamburgHammer says:

How much would we need in order to even get close to replace Payet ?
40 million won’t be enough, neither will 50 or 60 million, considering the asking price for players like Lacazette.

How are we ever supposed to build a team challenging the top clubs in the Premier League if we have to start afresh every year after selling our best player ?
There needs to come a time when as a club we make a stand, even at the risk of disappointing the player who may be interested in joining a club like Real.

Payet seems happy at West Ham, he’s just signed an improved long-term deal, so West Ham are in the comfortable position to ask any price really.
I’m convinced that even with a 60 million fee our squad would end up worse off in quality should we allow Payet to leave.

Even here in Germany on bloody Teletext they keep mentioning the serious interest by several big clubs to sign Payet . Let’s hope Gold&Sullivan are serious about their mantra of us no longer being a selling club…
