Pelle drools over Fornals signing

|

Manuel Pellegrini clearly believes that Pablo Fornals is about to bring a new dimension to West Ham United.

And the boss could not be more pleased to have signed a midfielder he admits he has been tracking for some time.

Fornals has become the second most expensive signing in the club’s history following the arrival of Felipe Anderson last season and it’s no surprise the cash has been splashed on another creative player.

The midfielder has agreed a five year deal with a year’s option and his fee is believed to have been £27 million plus add-ons which could ultimately take it to around £40 million.

Pelle has repeated his love of such operators on a regular basis explaining that these are the types who genuinely affect and change games.

It gives him options galore and just as was the case last summer, signings are arriving early which will help the pre-season preparations enormously.

Commenting on his new signing to www.whufc.com Pelle said: ““I am very pleased that we have signed Pablo and look forward to welcoming him to the Club when he returns from international duty next month

“He was a key target we identified some time ago and it is a big positive that we have managed to complete the deal early in the transfer window. I would like to thank the board for their support and work in completing the transfer.

“Pablo is a young, hungry and talented player who has already proven his ability at the highest level in Spain, and we believe he will bring a different dimension and a strong mentality to the team.

He has made a big impact in his time with Villarreal and we look forward to seeing him continue his progress here.

“His signing means that we now have very good midfield options in the squad. With players coming back from injury and ready to begin pre-season training with the rest of the squad, we have a very good balance and mix of styles.

“We wish Pablo good luck with Spain in the European Under-21 Championship finals, and I am sure our supporters will give him a very warm welcome when he begins what we hope will be a long and successful career at West Ham United.”

Hopefully he’ll be great. 27m is a hefty fee and makes me wonder why we didn’t go for Deulofeu last summer for 11.5m, 24 at the time and proven in the Premier League. I think we missed out massively. Watford have been very impressive in the transfer market the past few seasons. Richarlison for 11m, sold him a season later pocketing a £39m profit. Shrewd business.
