Pellegrini moving fast to grab priority signing

|

West Ham remain keen to grab Fulham’s Ryan Fredericks  on a free transfer in June.

Despite the player indicating that he may be ready to sign a new deal at Craven Cottage, the Hammers are keen to talk with the Hammersmith-born right back when he is out of contract.

We understand that Manuel Pellegrini has made up his mind that he will listen to offer for Sam Byram and like David Moyes before him, sees the 25 year old as a realistic target.

He is also keen on Tom Cairney as he bids to liven up the Hammers lethargic midfield  but the Scot is on a long term deal at Fulham and that will prove difficult.

The Chilean has a long term reputation for getting deals done quickly and makes rapid decisions on the players he wants to bring to the club.

To that end, we understand he has already handed the board a list of targets and the preliminary discussions with agents on availability and wages could start very quickly.

I would be shocked and disappointed to be signing this guy – another Jenkinson, pace but not tactically good defensively. He had very little to do as a defender this season and was basically played as a winger, will be totally out of his depth in the PL. A terrible signing even with no transfer fee.

Agree with johnham there. Free or not we don’t need a winger we need a defender who can get forward with pace

So you haven’t seen him deployed as a defender in a side that was usually attacking, so assume he can’t? Sounds exactly like what we’re hoping for!

Hopefully we will be trying to play with more attacking in mind, and he could be the player to help with that. If your on the front door you don’t need to defend the 90min.

All I can comment on really about the player is what my Fulham friend says (who is a season ticket holder), as I have only watched Fulham play a handful of times my self, and that is really wants him to stay, and rates him highly. That’s normally a good sign.

He is a free transfer, if we can get him in as cover for Zab or even buy him and loan him back for a season whats the harm ?
