Pellegrini opens up on Declan

Manuel Pellegrini has made his feelings on Declan Rice crystal clear and given he calls the shots at the club these days, a departure from the Irons looks as likely as snow in July!

Declan’s contract negotiations have occupied as many column inches as his brilliant performances on the pitch with the tabloids in particular seemingly determined to move him on to a “top club.”

But those are words which appear to be appropriate for West Ham as they move onwards and upwards and such is Pellegrini’s approach and knowledge the idea of him allowing Dec to leave seems as near to absurd as it gets.

The board continue to insist that he’s ours for another two years regardless and it looks odds on he will be offered the sort of deal he and his advisers require in the summer.

Pelegrini has now spoken on his feeling for the teenager as a player and it seems impossible that he will be a party to letting him go anywhere as he builds the Hammers squad of the future.

Talking to reporters he said: ” I see Declan work every day and it is difficult for me to be surprised with him now. He always wants to learn more, he didn’t have any problems, he was just focusing on playing.

Then the media started about his contract and his money but he never had any problem in that sense, he was always working hard and he is just 19 years old, he has got such a bright future ahead of him.”

I see they have extended Nobles contract so if they have money for someone who is approaching the end of career there is no way they will let ( a youngster just starting his career ) Declan go

Declan has a bright future ahead of him. Let’s just hope it’s with us and not some other team.

Just in. Declan has committed himself to West Ham until 2024.

It’s on the main West Ham website. Rice has signed a new long term contract.
