West Ham remain relaxed that negotiations between themselves and Declan Rice’s new representation team will see a new deal agreed.

And the club is also keen to ensure that new boss Manuel Pellegrini is involved in talks with club and player before moving too far ahead with negotiations.

Pellegrini is still away on a summer break in Chile but will be involved in discussing the teenager’s current situation on his return.

Reports emerged yesterday – in the form of an unattributed ‘leak’in the national media – that the club had offered just an £8k basic wage a week to the 19 year old central defender.

However, London Stadium sources later revealed that the offer was closer to double that at £15k with appearance clauses included.

And the club are confident that a deal will be struck  claiming the player has three years left on his deal with options.

The 19 year old recently appointed WMG as his new agents and they have moved quickly in a bid to sort out his future but the Irons refuse to be rushed into a deal which remains in its early stages of negotiation.
