Pellegrini’s record shows he’s not a great starter

|

Manuel Pellegrini has made a point of telling fans to look at his record when taking over clubs and whilst not as poor as his Hammers start,  the point is well made.

The Chilean had nothing like the number of new players come into the club as has happened at our place previously and thus he is right to remind us regularly that finding the right team will take time.

We saw the start of that ‘right team’ yesterday at the Emirates and with Wolves on the horizon West ham fans now have the right to expect a first win of the season next weekend.

He is right to speak of his previous record which shows that at Malaga he finished 11th in his first season whilst at Manchester City he made a shaky start – in terms of that particular club anyway!.

He had recorded four league losses by the end of November, but wins against Newcastle, Manchester United and Norwich City showed the team’s potential.

After their fourth league loss against Sunderland on 10 November 2013, City went on a 20-match unbeaten streak (in all competitions), which included a 6–0 win over Spurs and a  3–2 away win at European champions Bayern Munich, and a 6–3 win over league leaders Arsenal. (Wiki)

If we accept that history can explain our future and remember particularly the performance of Felipe Anderson yesterday we may avoid ourselves slipping into a “fortune’s always hiding ” mentality again!

I said it after the Bournemouth defeat and will say it again, it’s not panic stations yet. We are a new team with a new manager playing a new system. It will take time to get it right but against Arsenal we looked good for most of the game.
    3-1 Flattered them.
This entire season MUST be seen as a practice run for next season when we’ll be serious contenders. In Pelle we trust. COYI

What Hammer580 says makes sense – but the question is whether the owners will hold their nerve – if we are in the bottom three after 8 games – given our fixture list and having lost at home to Bournemouth that is a possibility

Wolves match will be a very good indicator on progress.Looked much better yesterday but so reliant on Arnie up front.Once he went off the game changed in their favour.
