Phillips involved in outburst as he boards team bus

Under fire West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been filmed swearing at West Ham fans following the defeat to Newcastle.

Phillips endured a torturous game at St James Park following his introduction for Michail Antonio in the 67th minute. Not only did the on loan Manchester City midfielder concede a penalty shortly after his introduction. But he was also easily dribbled past for Newcastle’s 4th goal as Harvey Barnes shot from long range.

Following the game, Hammers fans had gathered by the team bus presumably to get selfies, autographs, shirts or just to vent their frustration. As Phillips approached the bus he appeared to be subject to some requests for his shirt and also someone suggesting he might wish to return to Manchester.

The midfielder then proceeded to board the bus and stick his middle finger up at the fans. The clip has circulated on social media and originated from The West Ham Network although the video footage is not displayed on their X feed.

I’ve tried to give Phillips the benefit of the doubt, but swearing at fans is not a good look, particularly when children are present. Clearly his disastrous West Ham spell is weighing heavily on his shoulders and it will be interesting to see how the club respond.

No need to give the finger to our fans, he’s already doing that on the pitch . Rearrange this well known phrase – off sod!
