Yesterday’s Claret and Hugh article suggested winger Abdul Fatawu could be available to West Ham this summer at a ‘reasonable’ championship price.
It seems further news reported today progresses the Hammers interest in the young, pacy winger -with the player himself making his own stance on a move to the Championship clear.
Footballinsider247.com suggest that his ‘transfer edges closer‘ in their article today:
“Sources: Abdul Fatawu ‘keen’ on joining West Ham as transfer edges closer:
“Abdul Fatawu is open to the idea of joining West Ham United this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Leicester City winger is not “put off” by the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship, and is still “keen” to move to the London Stadium this summer.”
As we suggested yesterday, Fatawu was identified as one of several widemen under examination by exWHUEmployee along with other wingers, such as Watford’s Othmane Maamma and Stoke City’s Million Manhoef along with Anthony Musaba – as we covered earlier.
Fatawu is traditionally a right sided winger would be seen as a more natural ‘Bowen’ rather than ‘Summerville’ replacement.

However, bearing in mind that Summerville played all four World Cup games for Netherlands as a right winger – nothing is impossible.
There does seem increasing traction around the possibility of Fatawu, currently still on the books at Leicester City in the third tier after their own successive relegations, making the jump back to the Championship.
Yet another high-priority item sitting waiting for West Ham’s head of recruitment Nils Koppen to deal with if, and when, he finally leaves FC Copenhagen to take up his post.
Why do you guys report football insider articles. You are decent journalists using zero credibility sources demeans the brand.
Football insider are the Sunday Sport equivalent of news sites recycling their rubbish is the equivalent of recycling discarded tissue paper after a vindaloo at a dodgy restaurant.
I don’t really understand why they are waiting for Nils Koppen. If Nuno wants a player who is attainable and wants to join just get it done. I’m sure they can find someone to sit smiling next to the player as he signs a contract. I think there is more to it. Either they don’t really want Fatawu or they are doing the groundwork for the move in the hope that he is still available if / when they accept the “too good to refuse” offer for Bowen.
