PlayerWatch on Wilshere as he makes Gunners return

|

Jack Wilshere came under the CandH PlayerWatch spotlight today against on his return to Arsenal and our man Daniel Danielli Leach was there to chart ever move he made.

11 – Miscommunicates with Sanchez for a high ball and they both challenge for it but we retain possession

17 – Picks up the ball in midfield and dribbles all the way to the edge of the box until he is tackled. No foul is given though

26 – Plays a poor pass to Snodgrass gifting the ball to the opposition

30 – GOAL – 1-1 – As Masuaku rushes to close down Mkhitarayn, Wilshere is seen jogging back to the overlapping Bellerin who provides the cross for Monreal’s equaliser

31 – Wins a free kick in the centre of the pitch after a foul by Xhaka

34 – Plays a one/two with Snodgrass and completes a dribble before releasing the ball to Fredericks

38 – Plays a one two with Sanchez before Sanchez distributes the ball out wide to Fredericks

40 – A poor touch in midfield starts a counter attack with Aubameyang

46 – Receives the ball from Masuaku under pressure by two Arsenal players yet he still retains the ball and releases the ball into Diop

48 – Plays a great through ball to Antonio on the left hand side to start a West Ham attack

65 – Makes a great ball keeping the ball away from three Arsenal players who put him under pressure before giving the ball back to Sanchez

69 – GOAL – 2-1 – Tracks back and makes a great block to an Arsenal cross but Diop’s subsequent clearance is poor and leads to Arsenal’s goal

89 – Completes a great dribble from the midfield before releasing the ball to Yarmolenko

90+1 – GOAL – 3-1 – Controls a high ball in midfield sublimely and makes a lovely flick above Lacazette but then plays a stray pass which leads to Arsenal scoring

Verdict – 4.5Despite an improved Hammers performance Wilshere’s display was very frustrating. It is clear that there is a very talented midfielder when watching him play as some of his play, passes and dribbles with the ball are amazing but often he made mistakes in the match; some of which led to two of Arsenal’s goals. He looked off the pace at times in the game and looking lost at times. He will need to cut out his mistakes and improve his consistency if he wants to repay Pellegrini’s great faith in him.

Very poor again today . Slow , lethargic , lazy .
Neither he or Noble are good enough to be regular starters .
This was the worst Arsenal team I have seen in years and he was let go by them ..
    Says it all really !

Its gonna take time for all of this team and squad but i do feel they are improving.Wilshere needs to stay fit and get more games under his belt.Really hope Pelle puts out a strong team to play Wimbledon on Tuesday just to get that winning habit started and i honestly feel we will beat them and Wolves next week to get us on track.Liverpool and Arsenal away so early in the season is always going to be a struggle for a team in transition.

I agree with 64. Wilshere will improve with games. He will become a top player for us.

Wilshere played all last season and he was just as bad for Arsenal. Games will not improve him. He is lazy, has no pace, and does not take responsibility – there is no more improvement from him. We will continue to struggle when he is in the team.
