There seems no way back for Dimi Payet.
So tonight we are running a poll on to discover which previous Hammer you think should adorn the giant West Ham shirt in the London Stadium once occupied by the disloyal Frenchman.
Candidates in the poll include the late John Lyall, West Ham player and manager, he only made 31 appearances for the Hammers between 1959-1963 but managed the club so successfully between 1974 and 1989.
Vic Watson who remains the club’s top scorer by some way scoring 326 goals between 1925 and 1935.
Newham born Tony Cottee scored 146 goals in 336 appearances over two spells with West Ham and was part of the Hammers side which finished in a record-high third place in Division One in 1985/86.
Tragic Dylan Tombides the 20 year old West Ham striker who died following a three-year battle with testicular cancer.
The loyal and Hammers cult hero Carlton Cole who made 293 appearances for West Ham over nine seasons, scoring 68 goals.
Alvin Martin who made 596 appearances for West Ham between 1978 and 1996. He found fame in pub quizzes after scoring a hat-trick against three different keepers against Newcastle in 1986
Frank Lampard Senior has the second most appearances for West Ham behind Billy Bonds clocking up 670 games between 1967 and 185. He was West Ham assistant manager under Harry Redknapp and the father Frank Lampard junior.
If we missed someone you believe is more worthy drop us a comment and say why.
Paolo DiCanio and Slaven Bilic added on request.
Totally gutted about this situation, and agree with slavin a laugh.
Maybe the lyrics for Payets song should be changed to ‘weeee all agreeee Demitri Payet is a Wa**er’.
Dylans shirt for me.If ever there was a case for swapping a spineless users shirt for one of a man with courage & dignity this is it.
Why not Paolo Dicanio? The better payet
Would like to see PDC included in the list Sean (although I voted for TC!!!) #COYI
PDC added
I took a squint at ex-whu emps article. It would seem we got Ayew for the French traitor.Tried getting Batshuayi for him but he took the Chelsea option. It seems we pandered to his needs for much of the time but it still wasnt enough for him.You can take him out of France but he still acts like the same Payet we came to know when i lived there.
Agree with the comments about Tombides, personally I went for Alvin Martin, all of them are great choices and would be suitable replacements, maybe even just put a no 12 up there to symbolise us supporters as the 12th man COYI!!!
Yeah good list & choices.I went for PDC,loved the fruitcake.I couldnt go for TC i still havnt forgiven him for making me cry as a young kid when he waddled off to Everton 😁
Slav added as well even though he left for Everton
Phil Parkes? Alvin Martin? Alan Devonshire? Paolo Di Canio? Julian Dicks? Ray Stewart? Frank McAvennie? Tony Cottee?
Three of your list are on there already. Are you p£ssed lmao
