I have to admit, I find this particular transfer rumour a difficult one to believe.
According to a report from Football League World, West Ham are considering a move for Coventry City striker Haji Wright.
Ordinarily, I’d probably dismiss it. But at this stage of the summer, with the Hammers crying out for another centre-forward, almost any striker link is going to attract attention.
Lampard’s Price Tag Was Sky High
We’ve been here before with Wright.
If you remember the build-up to last January’s transfer window, West Ham were repeatedly linked with the American striker as Coventry pushed towards promotion from the Championship.
Back then, former Hammers midfielder Frank Lampard was making it abundantly clear he had no intention of selling. Every time he was asked about Wright, the asking price seemed to go up. One minute it was £120 million, the next it was £200 million.

Of course, nobody seriously believed Coventry expected a British record transfer fee. Lampard was simply making the point that his star striker wasn’t for sale.
That’s why it’s difficult to believe West Ham could now sign him for a reported £7.7 million.
Having watched Wright last season, I thought he looked an able and capable Championship striker. In truth, at this stage I’d welcome almost any proven Championship forward through the door at London Stadium.
As I’ve said repeatedly in relation to Pablo, I don’t believe West Ham can head into the season relying on him to lead the line week in, week out.
So whilst I’d be surprised if anything came of this story, I’d also be pleasantly surprised if the Hammers somehow managed to pull it off.
Not sure why we aren’t going for Vipotnik from Swansea, perfect for this division and we have the players that can supply him with crosses.
Why oh why is Pablo not being played as a striker…everyone writes him off says he is rubbish etc but he has not had one game where he is played in his natural position as a striker…..push him forward have Taty play in the pocket behind and lets see what happens…..writing him off and trying to buy a proven goalscorer when the mans not been given a chance to show what he can do annoys me…..if he is then shown to be well short then by all means bench him or whatever but why not play him as the main striker in the friendlies it makes sense surely.

He scored 17 goals in half a season in Portugal playing as a “9”.
Must be worth a try.
Pablo or not still need extra pacy striker (preferably with height).
Delap would be a shout but unlikely to come back down to championship.
Somebody else who was not really given enough time.
Chelsea have got strikers coming out of their ears and he sure never have gone there.
Could have come to whu but he blew it.

I still think Liam Delap would be a good shout Gonzo. He is being sidelined at Chelsea and a loan with an option to buy would be interesting
