Ratings 2 Irons at Villa Park

|

Fabianski: One vital tip onto the bar from Villa’s only attempt in the second half 7
Johnson: Brilliant start, took his goal really well. Watch how quickly he recovers position when drawn out 8
Zouma: A pretty typical display of defending. Never looks stretched 8
Ogbonna: One minor lapse of concentration put Fabianski in a spot of bother. That aside, very comfortable 8
Cresswell: Played his part in showing the Villa fans what a well organised defence looks like 7
Rice: Excellent, again. A fine goal capped a great first half 9
Soucek: Does a lot of grafting behind the scenes that is easy to overlook 7
Fornals: All action as usual, harshly booked for his part in a hefty 50:50 collision but used this as inspiration to get the 3rd 8
Benrahma: Did well today. Set up Rice and looked a lot more up for the physical challenges 7
Bowen: Drew the foul for the red card that really turned the game in our favour. Deserved his goal 8
Antonio: An effortless display leading the line 8

Subs
Lanzini: Helped us move the ball on more quickly and a wonderful pass to set up Bowen for the 4th 7
Vlasicl & Coufal: Both on in stoppage time  No rating

Was Lanzini as good as I thought he was? It felt like when he came on he was absolutely brilliant and changed the game for us. Maybe I just imagined that.

You’ve overrated Fornals, he was partially responsible for their goal, made a very weak attempt at a tackle, he scores a goal and then is heralded as a super player where in fact he’s the weakest player in the team
