Relegated ace linked with Hammers

|

Relegated Burnley star Dwight McNeil has become a target for West Ham, if recent reports are to be believed.

Sky Sports reports that the Hammers have made an approach for McNeil, as have Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old is said to have become a key target for both clubs as he is young and homegrown.

McNeil is said to be keen on a potential return to the Premier League after Burnley were relegated last season.

He did not actually manage to score a goal last season, instead being limited to just one assist in the Premier League.

The Clarets would want in excess of £15m to part with McNeil, who has a contract until 2024 at Turf Moor.

The Hammers may have shifted their focus away from Jesse Lingard, who now appears primed to move to newly-promoted Nottingham Forest in a shock summer move.

Keep an eye on this one throughout the remainder of the summer.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this happen, a player with 0 goals and no assists last season signed just to get a transfer in.

McNeill looked good a couple of seasons ago but he really lost his mojo last season partially down to injuries but also he just looked like he lost confidence in a poorly performing team.

With our owners its questionable whether they can even get this deal done, GSB out we are fed up of “carry on in the transfer market window” high farce of football clubs recruitment. We need new owners or Kretinsky to step in and make the whole operation a lot more professional, Marina Granovskaya left Chelsea she was capable of doing deals and presumably was given autonomy by Abramovich we should ditch whoever is currently negotiating and get her in.

Like Januzaj his stats for last season are woeful, so he is no better than players we already have on our books. We need quality, not squad fillers.

Spot on. Who would he replace! He is clearly going to be a bit player like Vlasic, and clearly offers a lot less than Benrahma who actually scored some goals and made a number of assists.
paying £17m then wages for him is just a waste of money. Paying Lingard 200k per week costs £10.4m for 12 months – Two years of Lingard or buy McNeil ! I know which looks a better investment and its not McNeil.
