Speculation is growing that West Ham are in direct negotiations with Leicester City for their prized asset who most likely needs to be sold now that the Foxes are facing the tough financial reality of balancing their books as a Championship side.

Danish goalkeeping talent Mads Hermansen has been the subject of speculation for weeks – increased as West Ham appointed their new goalkeeping coach Casper Ankergren, who worked with him at Brøndby – and a new article by Leicester fan site Foxesofleicester.com follows hot on the heels of Mondays’ sports.yahoo.com article “West Ham United to make formal oapproach to sign Leicester City Star”.

Todays ‘Foxes’ article suggests that: ” West Ham may shell out millions more than expected for Leicester star” which tells us that there’s a growing acceptance that a deal is in the offing for the exciting and hugely promising Dane who would fit Graham Potter’s system to a ‘T’ and more than likely challenge Alphonse Areola for the first team jersey.

Whilst initial speculation was at the £25 million level, the ‘Foxes’ article suggests Leicester will stick to their £35 million aspirations, somewhat ignoring the financial imperilment that the club faces having dropped out of the Premier League. As West Ham fans know only too well, a player sells for what he will fetch, not what the selling club wants!

A deal between the two clubs for the top stopper would certainly improve morale around the fan base after the last 48 hours of  “veteran striker-itis” that has been laying everybody low.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Why on earth would we spend £35 or even £25 million on a relegated goalkeeper, when Kellerher went from Liverpool to Brentford for £18 million?

  • Ryan says:

Considering our finances, i still can’t get my head around Keleher going for £12.5m to Brentford and we wasn’t even in for him.

Absolute clanger from the club. Would’ve been a huge upgrade and he was always going to be up for sale in the summer. Such incompetence from whoever is in charge of transfers

  • Julian Woodhouse says:

Wouldn’t raise the spirits if Wilson still ended up at the LS, we need to raise our goal not injury ratio.

Don’t think LCFC should get too greedy given their PSR issues we’ve got other Irons in the fire!

Good keeper Reminds me of a young Mervyn Day

  • Ian says:

No way are we spending £35m on a goalkeeper right now.
