Report: Hammers eye Serie A hitman

|

Atlanta’s  Duvan Zapata is the latest reported West Ham striker target according to Calciomercato who have linked us to around six players so far this past few weeks.

But speaking to ESPN (via AS Colombia), the Atlanta front man has made it clear his only interest is in helping the fifth placed Serie A team finish the season strongly.

He was reported to be on our wanted list last January so it’s hardly surprising that he is again being mentioned freely around the European media.

He is another £40 million rated star which seems realistic given that he has hit the net 21 times this season and is being watched right across Europe.

He is on loan at Atlanta from Sampdoria where he has a contract until 2022

There have been several transfer stories linking Zapata with West Ham last January. And more reports suggest the Hammers could reignite this interest in the summer.

And speaking on his future he said:  “Today I only think of Atalanta, I am enjoying the present and I am thinking of Atalanta, my mind is to finish well, it is fundamental to be able to do it.”

Although he is only focusing on Atalanta, Zapata has not ruled anything out yet although Atlanta -who have him on a two year loan deal – have been offered the option to buy him.

As has been reported on various occasions the Hammers seems set on wooing Maxi Gomez out of Celta Vigo although they are keeping an eye on other possible targets.

  • We need a few attacking players to replace our forward clear out.
But surely we are letting in to many stupid goals. We need another Bonds, and a another Razor. I think we need some muscle to compliment the flair, people with an attitude.
How about Morrison of Cardiff, Duffy or Dunk of BHA to stiffen the back four. Then we need a player like Wanyama, say Matic from MU to make tackles nearer the half way line.
