Report: Hammers eyeing Liverpool striker

|
West Ham are this morning being linked with Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke who has yet to play a single game for the merseysiders this season.
Reading-born, the 21 year old is apparently being seen as a player Jurgen Klopp is ready to allow out on loan and the Hammers plus Crystal Palace are apparently in the running.

The 21-year-old is nowhere to be seen at Anfield after slipping down the pecking order in his second season on Merseyside.

Solanke was used 21 times in the Premier League last season and on other six other occasions, but has yet to feature in any competitions this time around and is bang out in the cold.

The Sun,  makes the claim that Klopp is ready to sanction a short-term move  that to a fellow top-flight club.

Palace are said to be big fans of the England international, while West Ham are also in the market may be another back-up striker.

CandH’s view:

If I was tempted to open a book on it – which I’m not – I’d give no more than even money that the Hammers will be linked with a minimum of 25 players between now and January 1. On top of that I’d offer no better than 5/4 that either Crystal Palace or Everton are associated with all of them. Those two clubs are always in the frame when we are apparently 🙂 And that’s usually the big giveaway that the story has no legs or at best, just one, and can be dismissed. This is one of them. Why on earth would Pellegrini want a player who at 21 has managed one goal in 27 competitive appearances. He doesn’t, so throw it out of the window. He needs a proven PL striker with a decent scoring record. Whilst on the subject of  transfer gossip always remember too that because a manager has worked with a player at a previous club – not the case here of course – he will not necessarily be interested several years on. It’s called creative silly season media thinking.
