Report: Hammers keen on South American striker

|

West Ham want to sign Argentine striker Giovanni Simeone according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio

The report claims David Moyes wants to sign his 25-year-old who plays as a striker for Serie A side Cagliari and the Argentina national team.

The striker is the son of Atletico Madrid‘s manager Diego Simeone.

Simeone Jnr joined Serie A side Cagliari on a permanent deal at the start of this season, after netting 12 goals on loan from Fiorentina in 2019/20.

He has continued that impressive form in the first half of the campaign, with five goals in ten league starts, and Eusebio Di Francesco’s side could demand Є22m to authorise a move away.

Simeone was born in Madrid, Spain while his father was playing for Atlético Madrid. His family moved to Italy in 1997, but later returned to Spain in 2003 following his father’s career club changes. Two years later he moved to Argentina, and joined River Plate’s youth setup in 2008 when his father was appointed coach of the first team. He holds both Argentine and Spanish nationality but represents Argentina internationally.
