|

CoquelinThe Irons are today being reported as ready to move in on Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin with a price tag of £10 million being attached to the player.

The Daily Mirror claims  the Hammers are favourites to land the 26 year old as David Moyes continues to search for midfield reinforcements.

Coquelin being seen as the ideal solution despite the Frenchman failing to make the Arsenal Premier League first team this season although he has made seven appearances as sub.

Sorry but we must look for a better class of midfielder. This would be like buying another Kouyate who has been truly awful this season and our main midfield problem.Like the look of Dendoncker at Anderlecht though as that is a step up in class even Shelvey (sure Moyes could sort him).Come on owners show some intent and ambition in this window instead of looking at these bargain basement offers.

Belgian newspapers reporting Hammers have been inquiring (finally) about Dendoncker, and that Moyes likes his profile since Fellaini seems to be looking for something more exotic. However, the takeover is now going to happen in March, and the new owner (Marc Coucke) apparently has said that Dendoncker is a must stay player… We might be too late then.

      • Dunlopilo says:

And to be accurate, the takeover at Anderlecht, where the Vandensotck family has sold its shares.

I actually thought Elneny been decent shout in summer Leicester offered £10m & was accepted but he didn’t want to leave London he has started more this season & solid DM.
Coquelin isn’t bad but I really think Moyes needs to look outside of PL which he doesn’t seem to want to do. Coquelin is more defensive minded which is good hut we need a passser someone who can get ball fwd he could be a good buy.
But just think outside of PL is so much talent & just bc have PL experience doesn’t mean they will work.
Coquelin Capoue Shlevey if replacment its the 7th we have to start making some ground & we have plenty old heads at the clubs we need pace & technique.
I know Wilshere is unlikely but why jot Bid £15m they have not made any progress on new contract he said himself & when Ramsey comes back etc
    Worth a bid.
Would love us to add some creativity like Hakim Ziyech Elynousaoui. Even James Madisson from Norwich 21yo English 7&7 scores free kick goals.

Tho at least Coquelin is 26

I think 10m on this gut would be another waste of money. I keep saying we need quality and youth, that is the recipe. Buying top 6 players who are not cutting it for them is a waste of time and money unless they have exceptional quality which this guy does not have. I would much prefer to give youth a chance. I was so impressed by Quina yesterday even though he was only on the pitch for 10 mins. Lets buy quality at the right age. If I was buying a midfielder that would be a gamble it would be Shelvey as he a hammer at heart.

  • Mid Hammer says:

For f@#k sake. Seriously is this the best they can come up with. This crap arsenal reject instead of playing Cullen, Oxford or rice as midfielders. What’s the point in any young professional bothering. If we hadn’t have ****ed about in the summer chasing carvalho we could already have Wilshere.

  • Mary Millingtons Ghost says:

Well, as the shysters have been brow-beaten into reducing their interest rate earned from the club, I very much doubt that comrade Sully will shell out £10mill without some form of return-I reckon this will only happen if we offload player(s).

  • Hammerintheblood says:

Wtf !! Will we ever learn chasing a player that can’t even get in the arsenal squad …..ffs …there’s no vision, ambition ….I think DS and DG have taken us as far as they can….no way can we break into the top 6 spending shekels, the future is definitely not too bright..if Arnie, lanzini and one other half decent player gets injured …we’ll be bang in trouble again and it won’t be Mr moyes fault ..I seriously hope I’m wrong but the writing on the wall was clear to see on Sunday….

    • Mary Millingtons Ghost says:

TBH HITB, getting in to the top 6 doesn’t particularly bother me. It’s the lies told with regard to our moving from the Boleyn (I think Lady Brady of Rathbone Market recently said we’re ‘only’ about £10mill per year better off after the move), coupled with the rinsing of our club, that makes me detest the deluded Cossack and his cronies.
      Where’s the money gone/going?
Where’s the investment by a self-proclaimed fan, who also happens to be a multi-millionaire?
The sooner they sell up and feck off the better😡😡

  • jimbo says:

Arsenal fans are saying giving him away on a free would be a result – Enough said – He is shyte. We’ve got that in abundance in midfield already!

  • Dunlopilo says:

He is just one of the many players who had one decent season, if that, and then crashed under Wenger. Because his record of damaging players of quality is also worthy to be mentioned.
