Report: Irons have eyes on midfielder despite Man U move

|

Reports that David Moyes is closing in on Manchester United’s midfielder Jesse Lingard continue to circulate despite the Reds reportedly taking up the option on the midfielder’s  current contract.

Lingard is regularly refereed to as a Moyes favourite and it’s certainly possible to see him in the role currently occupied by Pablo Fornals as an attacking midfielder

Moyes though may feel that he has what je wants in that position and that he is better off looking for defensive midfield cover for Rice and Soucek.

However, United’s decision  to take up the Lingard option may have made things more problematical should the Hammers boss be serious about bringing  the player to the London Stadium.

We  have had a small increase on our transfer kitty following the sale of Sebastian Haller and whilst Lingard may be an option we understand that all Moyes’ concentration is on a striker at the moment.

Moyes never rushes these decisions as witnessed by the right back position in the summer when Couval was a very late arrival despite the obvious requirement.
