Report: Irons keen on West Brom striker

|

Salomon Rondon is tonight being reported as being a summer target for the Irons although Everton and his current loan club Newcastle United are keen.

The Hammers have made no secret of the fact their No 1 target is Maxi Gomez but the plan to bring in two front men is regularly discussed by Hammers insiders.

And it comes as no surprise that they could be interested in the West Brom hitman who has hit the net 10 times in Premier League action for the Geordies this season.

Rondon is available on a free this summer according to www.transfermarkt.com and would appear to represent a live option for the Hammers given that Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez will be on their way with question marks over the futures of Marko Arnautovic and Chicharito.

The 29 year old Venezuelan started his football  at Las Palmas before taking in Pelle’s former club Malaga and moving on to o Rubin, Zenit and the Baggies in 2015.

The Hammers are keen on an “attacking overhaul” and the Northern Echo report manager Manuel Pellegrini has identified Rondon as a potential option.

    I hope we’re not interested !!!!

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

I like Rondon he has the ability to occupy two defenders at a time and he holds the ball up well, he is also good at laying the ball off.

  • zahama says:

I would actually prefer him to Mitrovic – he is a bit more mobile

  • JRS says:

I like Rondon tho I’d like to buy younger if one if 2 CFs yes at £16m he is well rounded 10 goals 5 assists in 26 apps & would probably do better under Pellegrini with more attack. He is great with goal scoring wingers has pace strong & proven in PL at 29 3 year deal & he is fit be good replacement for Carroll. He looks like he is starting his best years for club & country.

Rondon then a younger CF to replace Carroll Perez & especially if Arnie goes & Chic (even if he stays)

  • Clive says:

I like Rondon. Better than Mitrovic. Didn’t realise he was as old as that but we wouldn’t be buying him as first choice striker and means he will be coming into his peak and seeing as he’s a free transfer it would represent a bargain buy.

  • blimeylimey says:

Same old, Same old…. kicking around the bargain freebie bin for a player whose ‘proven in the premier league’ that he isn’t very good.
