Report: Liverpool to gazump Hammers transfer bid

According to a report in the Daily Mail Liverpool could look to beat West Ham to the signing of long-term transfer target Alex Scott.

Scott has been a revelation for Bristol City this season with Premier League scouts flocking to the West Country to check on the hottest talent in the football league.

West Ham as well as Wolves are reportedly interested but Liverpool’s scouts and recruitment team were among the crowd to check on the 19-year-old as England U20s faced Germany last month. Scott subsequently sustained a ligament injury on England duty in the following round of international fixtures and hasn’t played since.

Alex Scott has alerted Premier League scouts

Liverpool are clearly in need of reinforcements having struggled to a draw against Arsenal at Anfield yesterday. Often outnumbered and out-worked in central midfield, Jurgen Klopp’s side will require a lot more than lower league reinforcements if they are to challenge again next season.

Whilst Scott is a fine player, Liverpool are in need of established top class players rather than promising youngsters. They are rumoured to be chasing players such as Nicola Barella and Jude Bellingham so I’d be surprised if they battle too hard against the Hammers for a lad from Bristol City.
