West Ham have emerged as surprise candidates for the signature of Sergej Milinkovc-Savic

This is according to a report in esteemed Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport. The respected sports daily says that Milinkovic-Savic is yet to agree new terms on a contract past his current deal which expires in 2024. His club Lazio could sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next season .

Gazzetta have also reported that West Ham could go after the Serbian if they end up losing skipper Declan Rice (who is expected to sign for Arsenal) this summer.

As well as Arsenal, Rice has been linked with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in recent months and is believed to have a gentleman’s agreement with the club hierarchy to leave in the summer if a bit in the region of £100m is received.

With only one year left on Milinkovic-Savic’s contract, he may be attainable for a cheaper price than the £100million that was quoted for him a few years ago. That being said it would be amazing if the current recruitment policy was allowed to continue given the Hammers failing in the transfer market this season.
