Report: Saints eyeing Hammer

|

Southampton are eyeing a deal for Ryan Fredericks, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper reports that Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to bring the right-back in during the summer transfer window.

Fredericks’ contract at West Ham is expiring and he is poised to leave the club on a free transfer.

Southampton are in need of a right-back after Tino Livramento, suffered a serious knee injury. It leaves them with just Kyle Walker-Peters as their senior right-back option.

Fredericks is capable of playing on either side of the defence, but he has gradually fallen out of favour under boss David Moyes.

Vlad Coufal and Ben Johnson are both ahead of the 29-year-old in the ranks, with Fredericks making just eight starts in all competitions in 2021/22.

Fulham are also said to be interested in a deal to sign the right-back but it remains to be seen if competing offers will be made for the defender once he becomes available.
