Report: Striker jets in

|

Gianluca Scamacca is set to fly to London to undergo his medical and sign for West Ham, according to James Benge of CBS Sports.

The Sassuolo striker is closing in on his move to the Hammers after David Moyes’ side made a significant breakthrough in talks.

A fee has been agreed for the player and he has also agreed to personal terms with the Irons.

The 23-year-old scored 16 goals for Sassuolo last season and is now poised to move to the London Stadium as Moyes finally strengthens his forward line.

Benge reports that Scamacca will undergo a medical tomorrow (Tuesday) and then, provided there are no issues, sign his contract.

The Irons had initially pursued a deal to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea but that interest fizzled out amid the club’s pursuit of Scamacca, and the realisation that the Italian could be signed.

We finally seem to be close to signing the striker we’ve been crying out for!

Haller mk2 … same build , same style of play , similar attributes i.e – strong , powerful shot , quick feet for a big man , good header of the ball ….. and same problems fitting into Moyes counter attacking system… why? …

Hmmm. Haller thrived in a front pairing with Luka Jovic and just didn’t adjust to the long striker role in a team having low possession. Scamacca is used to being a lone striker with Sassuolo. I think we’ll see a different player completely. Hopefully he’ll settle and we’ll finally have a top class finisher. His strike rate from outside the box also looks good. Forza Scamacca 🇮🇹
