Reports in Portugal are claiming that Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has been “scouted” by the Hammers yet again. Portuguese paper O Jogo (translated and reported by Sport Witness) say that West Ham had representatives at the Estadio do Dragao last Friday night to watch Carvalho and Sporting Lisbon as they lost 2-1 to league leaders Porto in the weekend’s big game.
There were scouts from 20 other clubs across Europe watching the game along with the Hammers according to the original report which did not mention Carvalho.
Portuguese press continues to speculate that West Ham will return for the highly rated defensive midfielder in the summer even though Sporting Lisbon insist they will not sell under £30m. After the announcement of record profits yesterday the board will be under pressure to spend big this summer and that could start off by a marquee signing like Carvalho.
If it will take 30million to get him , then it will take 30million to get him . So go and get him .
It’s not as if we are talking 30million cash on the nose . Deals can be struck right left and centre. Just get it done . No point in scouting so much if the end result is , nobody .
But of course , as so has happened so many times it depends on our strength as a Premiership club . Get those all so important 9 points ( 11 would be better ) first and then we can start to look ahead towards the summer window . I remain optimistic .
COYHAMMERS
Get over there and offer 5 million.
Not in today’s world , Paul colborne . 5million wouldn’t get you a Pizza’s worth of quality player . Poor quality players are going for 10million + a yacht in Monaco .
That’s exactly the problem Paul ..the offers last year for player’s was embarrassing even so that a lot of clubs wouldn’t do business with us …all these targets are being said now to get everyone on board again but most of us have herd it al! Before …they only had 4 weeks to sort this one out last time and ended up offering an embarrassing amount and then got in to a public slagging match with them …my god the more you think about it the more you think the board at so incapable of running this club ..
