Rice actions speak louder than words

|

They say actions speak louder than words so it is good to see Hammer Declan Rice posing in the new home and away shirts.

Granted he is probably contractually obliged to model them but pointing proudly to the West Ham badge in one of the shots is his personal choice.

There are many unsubstantiated rumours and reports claiming he wants a move, that he is unhappy, that promises have been broken and he will reject a third contract offer but the player himself has yet to talk.

At the Euros, he happily displayed the crossed Hammers sign in an England shirt and had never said a bad word about West Ham.

Whatever is true or not we are unlikely to see the previous exploits of a particular sulky Frenchman who forced his way out of the club.

Rice is a different class of person and it is difficult to see a situation where he didn’t give 100% to the Hammers and their supporters while still a contracted player.

With all the reports surrounding Declan Rice and his contract what’s happening here and what’s happening there are we not unsettling the player ourselves?
We have fans divided on why he should stay and fans saying if it’s £100 million it’s good business he should go. Declan is our jewel in what is potentially becoming a fantastic crown, please let’s stop all this ****e about Dec moving and concentrate on coming together and getting behind our team for next season staying in Europe and starting to win things will keep him with us for a very long time. Stop saying he’s leaving and he may well want to stay!!

From the outside I have to say I’m happy with the way Declan is playing it. Keeping his mouth shut will give him the best leverage in any future negotiations, be it with West Ham or otherwise.

My guess is he’s not going anywhere this season, but won’t commit to a new contract until WHU show they’re committed to bringing in better players and building a team around him.

      Agree with you totally

Spot on, I don’t think he is kind of person to push for a move and down tools, so for him saying nothing but postive things about us says a lot really.

  • Neil says:

Kit modelling was probably done prior to leaving for England

    • I am sure that is correct but it doesn’t alter the story, he displayed his love of the HAmmers during the Euros

His team turned down contract offers way before the Euros anyway
