Rice will need to wait until the Summer

|

A club insider has repeated that the club is comfortable to wait until the summer to sit down with Declan Rice and his agent to discuss his contract insisting time is on their side.

A senior club insider told Claret and Hugh via Email: “With options, Declan Rice has two and half years to go on his current contract, we will review at the end of the season. As a club, we remain over £100m in debt and will lose between £30m and £40m this season. We are in danger of breaching Football Fair play rules with those losses this year and in the future. We can’t just afford to give every player who wants a pay rise a rise. The first team squad of 25 players, excluding players away on loan, but including employers National Insurance, sign-on fees and appearance money, is now already over £110m a year”

Declan Rice is thought to remain on £3,000 per week basic with a £10,000 per appearance bonus but his representatives want £30,000 per week basic plus a bonus scheme of £20,000 per appearance plus other performance-related bonuses.

Does anyone know how we are in debt when you look at the income from all sources . Unbelievable how ? On Rice I think he has earned a new deal , think he’s young and will get better. COYI ⚒

This “insider” has his head up his backside. They have thrown away salaries to journeymen and then hide behind the fairplay rules again. Maybe they should either have a proper audit or a better PR department. Wasn’t it a 100 mill when they took over? Oh that’s right it was a loan from the owners who have no incentive to have it paid off quickly as the rate of return is higher than the market.
The signal they are sending this kid is ridiculous. Any of the other kids coming up will be checking their agents weekly.

Paying Wilshere 100k a week is another example of a total waste of money. Even when fit not good enough to be in the team. Another Carroll. I really really hope the club decide not to give Carroll another contract. The decision to give Winston Reid a 5 year contract another poor business decision in my opinion.

None of you lot know how much these players are paid, all press speculation, just enjoy the football instead of moaning all the time!

I don’t believe in moaning especially after three wins on the bounce. However I agree with the sentiment on here that not settling the contract doesn’t seem to make any sense – given other contracts that have been signed
