Rio tells Irons not to fail on Lingard

|

Jesse Lingard has been urged to leave Old Trafford permanently by a former Hammers and Manchester United hero. Rio Ferdinand is becoming more and more forceful in his comments and appears to be in no doubt at all that the attacking midfielder’s day is done as part of the United scene.

The 28 year old has shown he can become an essential part of the Irons squad notably against Aston Villa and Sheffield United. And Rio reckons that the Hammers have to buy the player in the summer if his loan to us isn’t to be seen as a failure. It’s a pretty fair comment knowing how highly admired he is by David Moyes and were he not to it really would be a surprise.

In five words – the money has to be found to ensure he becomes an Iron.

Speaking on BT, Ferdinand said: “He has experience of being on loan at clubs, this is nothing new to him. I think more importantly what’s his ambition here, beyond this season. What is he looking to do?

“Because I don’t see him going back to Man Utd and really affecting that squad now. I think they’ve moved past him with the players they’ve recruited, he doesn’t feature and hasn’t done for so long.”

Have to agree with Rio. Jesse is not and will not be part of Man U future. It would be an admission of failure of management if he was to return. Rejection can be very hard to take – but it happens. Differing opinions. It’s what happens next that is vital to the wellbeing of Jesse. It would be terrific if Jesse was to continue playing for West Ham as in his first couple of games. Then, it would be great for everyone if he could make the move permanent and enjoy the life and play at our club. Maybe that someone else may be interested – but no guarantees that he’ll be playing in a side that suits him. So far so good at West Ham. Stick with us and be appreciated Jesse.

As a loyal Man United fan. I was so sad to see Jesse Leave Man United. Yes he had not performed well in two years but he did have personal issues that affected his game. He showed his willingness to play in the few minutes he was given by Ole who seems to listen to the media than make a decision as a manager. We have Rashford who has been very inconsistent and greedy with the ball for the large parts of the season but then you decide to snub Lingard for ever as if he never existed. Lingard could return and give competition to Rashford as he can also play on the right side of the midfield. I do not believe it’s over for him at Man United. Rio is probably saying this out of frustration that such a gifted player was permanently left out and ignored by Ole who continued to show faith in less skilled James who is more of a runner than a footballer. Jessie can also play deep in midfield as he can tackle and win the ball. He played very well under Mourhino and I don’t think it would be wise to off load him and make our opponents stronger. As it stands West Ham May still use him to beat us to that top 4 finish even with the fact that he won’t be allowed to face us against them in early March. Come on Ole open your eyes. Recall Jesse and give him game time. Yes a West Ham move would genuinely benefit him as he has started his first few games but he can also force his way through to the starting line up at Man United

Maybe, if Sipho’s desire is fulfilled, we could replace Jesse with Ashley Fletcher. That guy never was, and no player ever will be, the lone front man doing it all up front on his own. But Ashley was very much like a Lingard/Rashford gifted player. If we could have played when he was in our team the way we are playing at the moment, Ashley would have been a revellation and would never have been moved on.
Seriously, Jesse has no future at Manchester United. At West Ham – the world is his oyster. Certainty is what the young man needs right now – not a wing and a prayer.
