Fabrizio Romano claims that West Ham will have a “good chance” to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica in the summer.
The striker was a target in the January transfer window and the Hammers made a bid to sign the Uruguay international.
The offer was worth £40m but the Portuguese club rejected it, and Nunez has remained in Portugal, where he is continuing to score goals.
In total, Nunez has scored 26 goals in 33 games and is clearly one of the hottest properties on the potential market this summer.
The 22-year-old can play as a striker or on the wing and Romano believes that there will be a number of clubs chasing his signature when the season ends, including the Irons.
We know that manager David Moyes is keen to sign a new striker to provide support for Mikey Antonio and a bid for Nunez may well be in the offing if there is a realistic chance of a deal.
