Sakho tells how he proved himself to BFS

|

The fall and fall of Diafra Sakho doesn’t seems to have dented the opinion he holds of himself after causing mayhem in his bid to quit West Ham.

The striker – who in fairness many – including yours truly -believed was as good a front man as we’d seen at the club for a few years had personality problems which made a prolonged stay impossible.

And he eventually managed to get his move back to France with Rennes where after 15 goals and just two goals he was shipped out on loan to Bursapor where he has managed another two goals in 12 games.

However, the 29 year old refuses to forget the “good times at the Hammers” and recently sat down to give a lengthy interview he made it clear that he proved himself to Sam Allardyce.

That all this happened four years ago appears to be neither here or there to the Senegal internation.

He revealed: “When I was meant to sign for the Hammers, Sam Allardyce asked me a question: ‘Diafra, you’ve only played in Ligue 2, so, what can you bring to the club’. I replied by asking him who their top scorer was.

“At the time, it was Kevin Nolan who had eight goals, and I told him that if I played half the games, I’d score 12. In the end, I played 22 games and scored 12 goals.”
