West Ham have confirmed that Carlos Sanchez looks certain to miss the rest of the season after pulling out of the Macclesfield Town match early on.
The Mirror claimed in a report earlier today that he had a suspected medial ligament problem and we can now confirm that.
It’s bad luck on a player who has had a troubled start at the club after his £4 million switch to the London Stadium.
He was of course guilty of a bad error against Wolves which led to their winner and was then dropped with Declan Rice, Mark Noble and Pedro Obiang forming the central/defensive midfield.
However, we are becoming light on midfield defensive options but Jack Wilshere is due back in a month and Snoddy is available although he operates in an attacking role.
It now looks certain that the club will have to move for defensive midfield back-up in the January window.
We were told: “It is very likely that Carlos’ season could now be over. He has sustained knee ligament damage.”
