TalkSport’s Alex Crook has sensationally revealed that West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville failed to turn up for an arranged flight to sign for Roma yesterday.

As Claret & Hugh revealed exclusively on Monday, West Ham had agreed the sale of the Dutch winger following the Serie A club’s third and final bid.

Summerville had agreed to move to Roma and all parties expected the transfer to go through, to such an extent that the Italians even sent a private jet to collect the player.

Private Jet… But No Player

However, as revealed by TalkSport this morning, Summerville failed to show up following interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

Speaking on the TalkSport Crookie’s Roundup, the transfer correspondent said:

“I think his preference would still be Roma, but they’re not going to match the fee that Al Hilal over in Saudi have offered. Huge money for Crysencio Summerville. Roma actually sent a private jet to London yesterday expecting to pick up Summerville to go over to Italy and undergo his medical, but he didn’t show up.”

Quite astonishing, really.

It just demonstrates how close the winger came to completing his move to Serie A.

Football Or Money?

The decision now appears to rest entirely with the player, who faces a clear choice between football and money.

For West Ham’s part, there appears to be little preference over the destination.

It is understood the Saudi offer is worth around €55 million plus add-ons, making it significantly higher than Roma’s €47 million proposal.

As things stand, the Hammers look set to receive their asking price whichever option Summerville eventually chooses.

The only remaining question is where the Dutch winger wants to play his football next season.

If I were offered 40k a year plus OT or 75k a year plus OT I couldn’t give a monkey about what I was doing! Money talks and you’re made for life, don’t blame Summerville for looking after his future. West Ham are doing their best to get as much money as they can.

  • Jeeps says:

His ambitions were £6m per annum not £4m which Roma offered.
Which points to him being money orientated.
Whu have been associated with different players and private jets deals never got done.
Will he become Toney or Duran?
Just reported Duran is moving again 7 clubs and still counting.
Transfer fee now reduced to £25m Villa still smiling with £71m they got.

Saying it’s a clear choice between football and money is a bit simplistic.

We’ll certainly find out what Summerville’s real motives are. It’s either football or greed.
