West Ham look set to lose yet another talented young player from an academy which has been haemorrhaging talent over the past two or three years.
Whilst much has been made of the gifted group who won the FA Youth Cup in 2023, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea have continued to poach some of the club’s brightest prospects from the younger age groups.
And it appears that trend is set to continue, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly beating Arsenal to the signing of West Ham’s England Under-15 captain, Isaac Allen.
Another Academy Blow
Arsenal have been chasing the youngster for much of this year.
However, it now appears they are about to be beaten to his signature by their North London rivals.
For West Ham, it is another disappointing reminder that retaining the club’s very best young talent remains a huge challenge.
Spurs Following A Familiar Formula
Tottenham have significantly stepped up their recruitment of younger players in recent months and have been looking to hoover up the best academy talent from rival clubs.
It’s a strategy we’ve seen repeatedly from Chelsea and Manchester City over the years.
Unfortunately, this time it appears West Ham are the club on the receiving end.
For all the praise rightly given to the academy’s recent success, the Hammers will need to find a way of keeping hold of their brightest youngsters if they are to produce players capable of reaching the first team.
I just checked the WHU website, Isaac Allen is listed in the U18s squad and it states that he signed his scholarship contract on 01 July 2026 . . .can this be verified / checked by itk?

I wouldn’t be too concerned. Many of these young players never materialise into Premier League footballers.
Exactly the point I was going to make
I’d like to see stronger rules in place with all this poaching etc.
There has to be some more finance paid for losing club etc.
Or we better upgrade our facilities so they don’t match Outback India and look more modern England
Didn’t a young Tottenham forward recently come to us ? Frankie Day if I’m remembering correctly.
I think these things swing both ways.
