West Ham have accepted a deal from AS Roma for the sale of Crysencio Summerville, Claret & Hugh have learned within the last few minutes.
Today has seen a frenzy of activity, with numerous bids going back and forth, but it now appears that Roma’s £40 million deal, together with incentives and bonuses, has been accepted by West Ham.
The move is now expected to progress over the coming hours.
A source contacted C&H following our earlier article where we suggested the latest bid for the winger was likely to be rejected but have now been informed it has all but been agreed. Conflicting stories perhaps but the source was adamant the latest offer from Roma has been accepted.
Summerville Was Always Likely To Leave
Summerville was always destined to leave West Ham following relegation from the Premier League, and the fact the Dutchman enjoyed an excellent World Cup only strengthened interest in his signature.
It would appear that late interest from Aston Villa never materialised into a serious bid, while personal terms had already been agreed between Summerville’s representatives and the Serie A club. It is always possible Villa could return in an attempt to scupper the move at the last minute but the Dutchman is expected to move to Italy.
West Ham Can Finally Turn To Signings
The completion of the deal should now allow Daniel Křetínský and the West Ham hierarchy to move forward with their own transfer plans.
The club are expected to begin the process of signing players who have already been identified by Nuno Espírito Santo and Nils Koppen.

Hi Gonzo don’t you think we’d do better to allow youngsters to breakthrough this season than bring players in? I’m thinking of the following.

4. Lewis Orford
5. Mohamadou Kanté

7. Freddie Potts
Glad to see him go, apart from one flash of assists and goals in two years he was incredibly frustrating in lack of end product. Albeit he had injuries but his poor run at the end of the season was part of why we got relegated.
Annoying that in the World Cup shop window he found consistency and form. How odd.
£40m is an absolute joke. Obviously, even without Sullivan the Board is still a joke.
Didn’t think we were having to sell before we buy anymore? I hope we have got some irons in the fire so to speak because that just leaves us with Bowen, Pablo, Taty and Lamadrid to cover perhaps 4 starting spots. Opportunities for the likes of Marshall, Ajala and Earthy but still think we need at least a couple to come in. Clock is ticking, need to start making some progress now.
Screws have been relaxed and short of predicted ‘must’ amount.
Hope they got a sell on clause included he’ll be £70m next time he’s sold.
Good luck to him if true and happy he won’t be playing against us if we go up next season.
£40 million is an absolute joke for a player like Summerville. He’s worth at least £60 million.
