Scamacca eyeing Hammers departure destination

|

With the Declan Rice saga taking centre stage and top billing, Gianluca Scamacca has gone largely unnoticed. However his desire to return to Italy remains as strong as ever. The Italian is keen to return home and his Hammers departure looks more likely this morning.

A number of top Italian sources are reporting that Scamacca has chosen to join Roma. AC Milan had shown late interest in The Hammers £35 million man, as well as Inter and Juventus. As a youngster the player was registered with Roma before moving to PSV but never made an appearance.

Now it appears that Roma boss Jose Mourinho has placed Scamacca at the very top of his transfer wanted list.

The elephant in the room on any of these deals is the lack of transfer funds offered by Serie A clubs. There appears to no shortage of creative loan deals, but no cold hard cash. It’s precisely the same with the Torino and Nikola Vlasic situation.

As can bee witnessed by the Arsenal negotiations . . . . David Sullivan wants cash and he wants it quickly. I do expect Scamacca to depart this window but someone is going to have to offer something other than a loan or elongated HP agreement.

I personally would have included Scamacca in a deal for Tammy Abraham, if he really wants to go home. Just a shame now that Abraham has an ACL injury.
