The new era management at West Ham United has certainly caused a few eased eyebrows in the football community after two huge transfer deals. The Fernandes sale at £85 million showed West Ham under Kretinsky were not the soft touches of the Sullivan Brady era.
And the impending deal to secure something approaching £70 million for winger Crysencio Summerville – coming seemingly out of the blue – vindicates fully the board’s silent, no leaks and no comments strategy.
Compared with the old Sullivan era, the modus operandi of the new look West Ham board is as contrasting as 4K HDTV and my old black and white portable TV of the ’80s.
Insider ExWHUEmployee, in typical understated fashion, writes:
“The club have played this situation very well and maximised the outcome of the deal, something that perhaps wouldn’t have happened in the past.
“This means that the club have been able to upgrade targets due to the increased money coming in.“
In essence, whether it be Krentinsky, the board, Koppen or a combination of all three, West Ham have announced their transition from barrow boy traders to sophisticated market movers.
Something else to make the fan base justly proud, from the manner in which the club now conducts its business as well as the results obtained which will benefit the quality of Nuno’s transfer targets – and therefore the club’s chances of securing promotion at the first attempt.
Two of our best players sold albeit for top money. Don’t seem to be moving any deadwood though and still no new players in yet.
Getting a bit worrying. This is a huge season and we will only get one shot at convincing players to give it a season.
Personally I think Fernandes and Summerville were both £100 million pound players. In an era where similar quality players are selling for £117 million etc, we’ve been short changed if you ask me.
can’t get that excited like everyone else, club is celebrating selling our best younger players.

3 weeks to go until the new season and Nuno has no new signings to bed in before it starts. But we still have Fullkrug, JWP, Cornet and Kilman. Hats off to DK for maximising sale proceeds but I don’t see a squad yet capable of finishing in top 2 of the Championship. Jury is out
It’s always easy to be cynical, but I do feel the oxygen pumped into the room by DK since the stagnant odour of the BS waste was flushed down the pan is palpable. He hasn’t got this far in life and business by being a numpty.
The black and white TV of course being secured by further loans against the club’s value.
I think you need to remember that as a West Ham supporter, one minute everything seems to be on the up and the next moment we’re taken back down to reality again.
I will wait until all sales/purchases of players have been finalised before I get too excited.
