West Ham fans have forgotten Prague
Football pundit Stephen Warnock has accused Hammers fans of collective amnesia by claiming we have forgotten all about the Conference League win.
Whilst discussing the pressure on David Moyes, Warnock let rip at Hammers fans on Sky Sports News this lunchtime. He’s far from alone as a gaggle of ex-players rally round to defend David Moyes with the Irons fans firmly in their crosshairs.
As usual, all of the nuanced reasons many fans have for being frustrated with Moyes were left unaddressed. Instead, there was just a lazy and preposterous insult that West Ham fans can’t remember last season, with the accusation of ‘short memories’.
As with many of these pundits, Warnock was left unchallenged as the vilification of Hammers fans in the mainstream media continues. It’s just more of the ‘pay up and shut up’ attitude displayed by a bloated media that increasingly patronises the opinions of match-going fans who clearly know more about their club than they do.
West Ham fans do not have collective amnesia. They have collective concerns about style of play Moyes imposed. He has a stubborn streak and we have a right to expect more especially after promised when we moved to the new ground. Moyes got well rewarded with a good contract and bonus for winning a trophy. So, it is the press and pundits who have amnesia, not hammers fans. Much more, there is a need to move to a higher level of entertainment. Thank Moyes. Get new manager like AC’’s manager. What’s his name?
Love when pundits and colleagues of mine bring up this arguement. I always point back to Leicester winning the league in 2016 and Ranieri being sacked 7 months later in February 2017. What’s the difference I ask.
Same old same old..Cop out pundits sticking up for British managers so as not too offend them when they cross paths at the next golf jolly
We need to keep our nerve. In the words of the great Mahatma Gandhi ‘An error does not become truth by reason if multiplied propagation, not goes truth become error because nobody sees it’. These ‘experts’ are not experts on West Ham. They have nit suffered the bond scheme or watched Mike Small and Lee ‘Chappy’ Chapman, midweek in the freezing cold. They know nothing and care even less about West Ham whereas we will be there long after the current players, manager and owners have gone. They have no right to lecture us. Do not fall for it.
Well said Ironman
