Slaven Bilic insists he needs no reminders of his current position as Irons boss.
Despite having only one of the team’s first seven games the Croat remains as popular as ever with the majority of fans.
Slav has made it clear that any pressure from outside is no worse than that he is putting on himself and refuses to look further than the next training session.
With the club in 18th position and drawing a game against Middlesborough they had hoped to win little happened yesterday to bring much cheer apart of course from a magnificent Payet goal.
And afterwards the manager commented: ““It was a great goal, a brilliant individual goal which brought us back into the game.
“It reminded me of Messi’s goals. I didn’t see many players scoring these kinds of goals. You get crackers, free-kicks, volleys, scissor kicks, 30-yard screamers. This was a brilliant moment of magic.
“That gave us a point, brought us back into the situation where we could win the game with half an hour to go. But we can’t rely on doing that every time. We have to add quality in the front line which is the most difficult to do.”
And turning to his own future Slav added: “I know my situation. I know how it works. I am not thinking about my future, I am thinking about my job and I don’t like where we are in the table. I really don’t like it. I am putting myself under pressure.”
I wasnt having a go at you Jimbo hehe.I just know that the guys on here wind each other up a lot & take the mickey out of each other thats all.Its all harmless between them.Nothing malicious or nasty involved 😉
I stand corrected Eddie.
Calm down for god sake Jimbo. There are a lot of the guys who have been on here a long time. They are always taking the mickey out of each other or winding each other up.Stan is a good guy so why start slagging him off!!
And its Ovaltine if you are going to be a smartass hehe
Must be bedtime now Stan – Don’t forget the Ovaltene!
Oh leave it out, whats wrong with all you new ones on here.I was just joking with Michael.Ffs do we all have to be serious on here not pull each others leg.Sorry aint going to happen just to please you lot who think supporting west ham is life or death.
Another valuable contribution from stan the man. Anybody who dares offer an opinion beware, because the Irons Taliban will quickly cut you down. Same old, same old……….
Please dont Michael i can feel a yawn coming on.Have you ever used Wetlands, you would fit in well on there. They think they know more than PL managers as well lmao
That’s alright – no offence taken – I was boring myself!
Bilic is putting himself under pressure by his judgement and some of his decisions – it’s obvious that Tore and Zaza are not up to it and you wonder who was responsible for their acquisition. What I suspect is that Tore was acquired on Bilic’s recommendation and Zaza as a panic measure by Sullivan when the expected ‘Marquee’ signing didn’t materialise.
Whatever, they keep on getting picked and are blatantly not up to it, Bilic has got to be realistic and realise his mistakes and move on. I was encouraged yesterday by the selection of Antonio as the central attacker and the inclusion of Obiang to provide dedensive cover that has been missing against Southampton and Watford in particular. He seemingly realised that you can’t play Payet, Lanzini, Antonio and Zaza together who collectively offer very little defensive cover, too much pressure is put on Kouyate and Noble and the defense is exposed. All obvious stuff but not apparent to Bilic!
The squad itself is limited with no improvement coming out of the Transfer Window, a load of new players coming in who have only provided Bilic with the headache of incorporating them into the group but not one of them being an obvious first pick.
I could go on…
Top post Michael.
Couldn’t agree more, especially the last paragraph!
Why he played gore is beyond me.As soon as his name was announced there was a groan from the crowd.Just thankful he was subbed at half time.
On the stadium i might be in the minority because i like it but hey ho.
I like it as well bashammer.Trust me mate there are a lot of fans who like it.It just so happens that forums bring the moaners out to grouse about it all the bleeding time.
Normally the same faces on an almost daily basis Lol
What I watched yesterday was a team that didn’t give up what I also watched was a captain that needs to be dropped for delivering nothing again other than slowing us down. Tore is actually worse than Biggins and Zaza where do you start? But to all those thinking the China doll is the saviour don’t get your hopes up he’ll only be around for a couple of weeks as Christmas is around the corner and we all know that he likes a little break around that time of year 🙂
We should always retain hope when we have the footballing gods on the sister site to sort out our season GW Lol
You mean the lets see what we can find to moan about today site.Home of the old miserable b@stards society lmao
That would be the one Stan.I think they have already found about 10 subjects to moan about & it isnt even 11am.
Leave them alone they’ve had a bad week! The slugs been sacked, the ground is getting pulled down, the stadiums toxic, payets lazy, weetabix ankles got ****ed after being influenced by Randolph, the ticket office doesn’t work and Donald Trump could be the next president! Have I left out anything from a week from Deidre’s daily forum 🙂
I agree Kev, it isn’t just the stadium as visiting teams seem to be enjoying it just fine. And it isn’t the “big pitch” bull either. Look at our results on big pitches last year away to Man U, Arsenal and City. We exploited the space by using pace. Seems like a long time since we attacked anyone with pace.
Sakho & Ayew.We need someone like them back in the team.Im not too concerned.I think with the attacking players coming back we will see more from the team.We have nothing up top at the moment.Neither Carrolls hold up play & occupying defenders or the movement of Sakho.
I am far from downcast especially with Cressies return imminent.I think once Arbeloa is settled he will be a good influence on the defence.Only my opinion.
Maybe the two Dave’s aren’t liking it too much either Slav . Sunderland and Palace will be far from easy the way we are playing . ( probably favourites ) You just gotta get something out of those two games I reckon . Yes , the Stadium is horrible , but other teams are coping with it better than us . There is a serious mentality problem going on .
I’d like to disagree with Slav’s comment that he is putting himself under pressure – I’d like to, but I can’t. When he starts with Tore and brings Zaha on, he is doing exactly that I’m afraid. When a player (Obiang) who couldn’t get a start last season is head and shoulders above the rest then you have to look at Slav and wonder if he has strengthened or gone for quantity over quality. I don’t want to see him go, I want him to stay and fix us. My worry is we are now reliant upon the likes of Carroll and Sakho to quickly deliver goals after the international break or we will start to be cast adrift, and then something will have to give. I’m also concerned that he hasn’t been able to pinpoint what is actually going wrong. Yes he made us harder to beat yesterday, but in a home game against a newly promoted side who we should expect to turn over given a fair wind. Reminded me a bit of a BFS line up looking to win 1-0 against ten men!
