Slav sets Capital One Foxes trap!

Carl Jenkinson looks likely to continue on the right side of the back four when the Irons take on Leicester City on Tuesday evening.

A crackerjack Capital One clash looks on the cards as Slav’s Kings of the Road look to score their fourth away win of the season.

The two teams are locked together in third and fourth places in the Premier League table and with a home defeat to avenge the Irons will be putting out a strong side.

Jenkinson left the action after 84 minutes at the Etihad to be replaced by James Collins although we are told there are no injury problems.

It’s likely that with a late return to training, and a one game lay off because of a red card against Bournemouth, Jenks may have been feeling the pace against City towards the end.

However, the Arsenal loanee is likely to retain his place in the team with the alternative being, James Collins who came on as a late sub for him going to central defence and James Tomkins switching to right back.

Andy Carroll is set to get at least an hour as Slaven Bilic gives Diafra Sakho a well earned rest.

A source told ClaretandHugh: “Given the amazing start the boss can play a very strong start. We are giving the cups a real go this season and are up there to win!”

Antonio played against Walsall in the League Cup, making him ineligible to play for us.

    Well spotted
We need Sakho fully charged for the league so I would start Carroll and use Jelavic as cover,
Hope Jenkinson has learned from last time, but I would play Jenks at right back and put Oxford in with Read,
Callum deserves a start rest Kouyate
Who cares pick any of them we can take them a pert with are breaks but don’t stop the style we have Andy can adapt he is ok on the ground

Antonio and Jelavic are both Cup-tied, but you’d think the Capital One Cup would be well down the priority list just in front of the Europa Cup rubbish!

A good opportunity to give some of the kids an airing!

I’d give the most part of Saturday’s team a rest. We played Saturday again on Tuesday and we have a must win against Norwich on Saturday. I say must win because we need to keep our home form momentum going too. We have so much talent on the bench I think we should utilise it to keep them match fit and rest those we can afford to. Rest Sakho, Lanzini, Reid, play Carrol, Zarate, and Collins.

I would like to see us play Oxford in CB alongside Collins or Tompkins, maybe give Cullen a run out, midfield could be Obiang, Noble, Lanzini, Moses, with Zarate and Carroll up top. If leicester play Vardy Collins could have some troubles with his pace. Whatever team we put out it we should go for the win and a run in the competition. I don’t think we should worry about the League position too much I am sure we will be fine there. It is a worry that Kouyate is injured he was definitely missed against City even if we did get that magnificent result. Would also be good to see Samuelson given a game if we could fit him into the team.

    Randolph
    Jenkinson – Tomkins – Collins – Hendrie
    Obiang – Noble – Oxford
    Samuelson – Zarate
    Carroll
Bench: Spiegel, Reid, Lee, Payet, Sakho, Cullen, Henry

I would play Amalfitano, but seems unlikely that Bilic will pick him at the moment

  • bubs says:

Put Cullen in and rest Noble,Henry and rest Tomkins,Moses on the bench with Kouyate if fit
But I agree I think Leicester will rest players to as they have along season and won’t want to go down the league and get stuck in a relegation battle with Chelski ?
We are blessed we could pick a second team that is top draw
We will soon find out if Slav thinks we are in with a chance in the league when he picks the side

  • whambam says:

agree with antonio and Bubs, Leicester have Arsenal while we have Norwich, both teams will be looking to rest players but our squad is a lot stronger 1-2
