Slav shows the fist inside the velvet glove

|

angry-bilic-624x447Slaven Bilic has revealed the fist of steel inside the velvet glove after yesterday’s poor defeat at Watford…and let’s make no bones about it the word poor is probably hardly sufficient.

Some reports today are claiming that we were brought back to earth by the Hornets – others, like the Hammers manager would argue that we brought ourselves back to earth.

We can argue the reasons all day long – two bad mistakes by Andy Carroll and James Tomkins and the loss of Diafra Sakho to injury and James Collins late in the game via a red card, but the fact is with the players avaialable we should have shown a whole lot more.

Slav isn’t unaware of any of that and amid the praise for Watford and  disappointment that we were second best came this assessment:  ‘The red card? No, I have more complaints about how we played and how we helped them with the greatest respect to them,’

They have a good team but we gave them a hand. We helped them. In the Premier League you can lose games. You can lose games but you can live with defeats if your team gave everything. Today we didn’t. We have to make sure that this was a one-off.’

Spot on and it sounds the sort of warning needed after he had made it clear there can be no complacency because yesterday that looked to be as much a problem as the missing players and individual errors.

Bad day at the office !!!!!!!
Not to worry though as we are going in the right direction,
The only problem is maybe we are expecting far to much in such a short space of time!,,,
A good season is still on the agenda !!!
    Up the hammers !!!!!

I’m west ham thru and thru but if spurs go above us?? Means that they are playing better than us?? So what.

It’s an iron first in the velvet glove surely?

I for one hope that we don’t start with AC again this season – super sub for the last 1/3 or at a push 1/2 of the second half it’s about his limit. Great when defences are tiring but putting on from the start is suicide!

Everybody was talking about our strength in depth before this match. Now, everybody is saying how much the team missed Sakho.
So, which is it. If it’s the former, then Sakho’s injury should not have fazed us at all. If the latter, then where did our strength in depth go. Personally I think we put the wrong replacement out
